The name of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Muhtar Kocakerim, who served as a faculty member at Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering between 2011-2020 and retired in 2020, ending his 50-year academic life, was given to the student laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering Chemical Engineering.
The opening of the laboratory, which was renamed "Prof. Dr. M. Muhtar Kocakerim Student Laboratory" with the decision numbered 12 of the meeting of the University Senate dated 05.08.2021 and numbered 21, Çankırı Karatekin University Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi, Vice Rector and Dean of Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erdem, It was held with the participation of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Odabaş, Prof. Dr. M. Muhtar Kocakerim, academicians working in the Faculty and their students.
Speaking at the opening of the ceremony, Çankırı Karatekin University Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi said, “We are witnessing a very beautiful event right now. May Allah make such a full contribution to the scientific literature for every academician; long and healthy professional life with his students” and shared his good wishes.
Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi continued his speech as follows: “When I heard about our teacher`s resume, I was envious and proud like all of you. As an academician who graduated from chemical engineering, I observe closely how important chemical engineering is for Turkey. The role of chemical engineers in the development of Turkey, especially after the Republic, is also a national role. Strive for this national role; striving; Mercy to those who passed away from our professors who worked in all chemical engineering departments making efforts for the future of Turkey; We wish good health to those who are still alive. We also express our thanks and gratitude to them. My dear teacher has had a full life; It has trained nearly fifty scientists. We were very happy when our Head of Department suggested that the student laboratory be named after our Professor. In this sense, to keep the name of our valuable teacher alive in the laboratory; It is an achievement for us to be able to tell our teacher as a role model to our incoming students. We would like to thank our Professor, who played an important role in the establishment of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Çankırı Karatekin University and contributed to the making of eye-catching publications at this stage, for his efforts and contributions.
Prof. Dr. M. Muhtar Kocakerim, who experienced emotional moments after the meaningful gesture and the example of loyalty shown, expressed his feelings as follows; “In my 50 years of academic life, this moment has been recorded in the most special place of my memory as a very precious and precious memory for me. We have been through a lot and faced a lot of problems; We have come to the end of our 50 years of professional life, where we have worked hard and put a lot of effort, and finally we retired. It is a great honor and I am very happy to conclude with such a meaningful award at the end of 50 years. I would like to thank our Rector, University, Faculty and my colleagues for showing this appreciation”.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erdem, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, also thanked Prof. Dr. Kocakerim for the academic added value and scientific studies it provided to the University and wished him health and happiness in his future life.
After Prof. Dr. M. Muhtar Kocakerim`s students and colleagues shared their feelings, thoughts, and memories about him, " Prof. Dr. M. Muhtar Kocakerim Student Laboratory" was opened.
